Tell me about your role within Poole College’s office of undergraduate advising.
I work as an academic advisor in the Office of Undergraduate Programs. I provide support to students with their degree progression, schedule, academics and overall well-being. I also assist with larger-scale projects such as registration advising and facilitating the M100 course.

What brought you to Poole?
I graduated in May with my master’s degree in counselor education and I was looking for advising jobs in the Triangle area. My goal was to be able to work at NC State since I went here for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. When I saw the job posting for working as an academic advisor with Poole students, I immediately applied. It has been amazing to work at my alma mater and support the awesome students here.
What did you want to be growing up?
When I was in elementary school, I wanted to be a hockey player in the NHL. As I got older, I changed my mind so many times with everything from being a veterinarian to an occupational therapist to a psychologist.
What do you appreciate most about working with students?
College is a unique time so I appreciate the energy and excitement that college students bring. I love having the opportunity to support students and build relationships with them the way that my advisor did when I was an undergrad student. I had such a positive experience and I hope to provide that to students here in Poole.
If you had to give a piece of advice to a student just starting out in Poole, what would you tell them?
Get involved on campus. There are so many opportunities and experiences available so take advantage of what’s out there!
Tell us a bit about your life outside of Poole. (Family, hobbies, interests, etc.)
I am originally from Long Island, New York but I’ve lived in North Carolina for a while now and really enjoy it here. I am a huge Carolina Hurricanes fan and try to attend as many games as I can. I live in Cary with my partner and our two dogs, Ryker and Luna.
What is something your colleagues or Poole students might not know about you?
I play ice hockey. I currently play in a women’s recreational league on Sunday nights and love it. It’s the best way to end my weekend and start my week. Ironically, I started playing hockey after I moved from New York to North Carolina. I’ve been to California, Canada and almost the entire East Coast when I played on the girls’ Junior Canes travel team.
